1º de outubro - Dia Mundial da Música

 

Desde 1975 que se comemora, a 1 de outubro, o Dia Mundial da Música. A data foi oficializada pelo International Music Council (IMC), uma organização não governamental que conta com o apoio da UNESCO. Pretendia-se promover a arte musical em todos os setores da sociedade.

The IMD (international Music Day) was initiated by Lord Yehudi Menuhin to encourage:

• the promotion of our musical art among all sections of society
• the application of the UNESCO ideals of peace and friendship between peoples, of the evolution of their cultures, of the exchange of experience and of the mutual appreciation of their aesthetic values
• the promotion of the activities of IMC, its international member organizations and national committees, as well as its programme policy in general.

Do grego "Mousikê", etimologicamente, a palavra música significa "arte das musas", inspiração para todas as manifestações mitológicas e de cultura grega. Alguns estudos indicam a música surgiu na era Paçeolítica e teve como ponto de partida a observação de sons da natureza.
